Do I need to know chess?
No. The game marks every legal move, and only the knight's L-shaped movement matters.
The rules
Follow legal chess-knight moves across every square. Each landing reveals the next character in a hidden phrase, so the route and the language must both make sense.
A chess knight moves in an L shape: two squares along a row or column, then one square at a right angle. It can jump across other squares, but it must land on an unused square. Tour of Phrase marks every currently legal landing, so you never need to calculate the move from scratch.
Undo steps back one move while preserving the rest of your route. Clear returns to the starting square. A hint previews the intended next landing, but using one is recorded in your result. Your timer and progress remain available in the same browser.
